This survey has been commissioned by the Alabama State Department of Education. It was designed and developed by a third party not-for-profit educational organization, the Career and Technical Education Consortium of States (CTECS).
CTECS is nationally recognized for its expertise in developing standards and assessments based on valid industry expert analysis. CTECS has a 40-year history of operating as a consortium of states, where members pool their resources to develop competency-based resources to meet the standards of global business and industry. CTECS has worked with 44 states since 1973 along with numerous post-secondary institutions, and federal and state agencies.
The Alabama State Department of Education’s primary goal is to prepare students for a lifetime of success—to be both college- and career-ready. CTE programs are offered in schools throughout the state. These programs offer students opportunities to learn valuable career skills. Alabama CTE students meet rigorous academic requirements to earn their high school diplomas.

Due to an assessment of Macon County roads and bridges, and facing a possible refreeze tonight, all schools will remain closed until the regular schedule is resumed on Monday, February 3, 2014.
However, administrators, faculty and staff are to report to their worksites on tomorrow, January 31, 2014 by 9:00 AM.
Due the the sub-freezing temperature prediction for tonight, all schools will remain closed tomorrow, January 30, 2014. We anticipate a return normal schedule on Friday, January 31, 2014.
After experiencing deteriorating weather conditions today and reviewing the forecast for tomorrow, Macon County Schools will also be closed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Principals and district resources officers are to check their schools as weather conditions permit.
In light of a wintry weather forecast for tomorrow, Macon County Schools will be closed for students, school faculty, and school staff on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. This closure extends to all extra curricular activities including sports events. Additional information will be shared on tomorrow based on the weather forecast concerning any other days. Administrators (senior staff, principals, assistant principals) are to report as allowable by weather conditions.

Qua Cox, a former Golden Eagle football player, has been invited to play in this year's Senior Bowl!, contested Saturday in Mobile, Al. The South won the battle this year, 20 to 10.
A senior at Jackson State University, Cox was at home in Tuskegee, when opportunity came knocking. Some unfortunate injuries to players chosen ahead of Cox to participate in the Senior Bowl made a way for him to get to Mobile and showcase his skills in front of a national audience and professional football recruiters.
"I am so proud of my student!", said Interim Principal Tiffany Williams. "I told him he was going to be a superstar. He always said he wanted to be a pro football player. Go QUA!!!!!"
His older brother, James Patrick, is the starting safety for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League... Patrick also played three seasons in the NFL, two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005-06) and one with the New England Patriots (2007)... Qua trains with his older brother in the off season.

Parents and families, We will have school tomorrow but with a later start time for students. Buses will begin their routes at 9:00 am, and school will officially begin at 10:00 am for students. Faculty, staff, and administrators are to report to work at their normal work times.
