First Lady Bentley Visits D. C. Wolfe

The Third and Fourth grade students from D. C. Wolfe Elementary School  participated in a Children’s Patchwork History Project on February 26 2014. First Lady of Alabama, Mrs. Robert Bentley joined the  students at and shared her love of quilting as well as assisted in creating the glass quilt. Funded by a generous grant from the Alabama Alliance for Arts Education’s “Support the Arts” license tag funds, student learned the significance of quilting to Alabama, how the geology of the region relates to the diverse plants and wildlife of the State, constructed a mosaic glass quilt, created their own mini-mosaic and completed a math lesson.  The students really enjoyed this exciting experience.
