ABOUT THE TEACHER

I remember the day that I decided to become a teacher.  It was early November in 1992 while attending my youngest sister's kindergarten birthday party.  I was just beginning my second year of college when I felt that kindergarten classroom environment speak to my heart. I knew the classroom was where I belonged.  Wasting no time, the following day I changed my major from accounting to elementary education and never looked back.

I am an Auburn University at Montgomery graduate and a seasoned veteran teacher with 25 years of experience as a fourth grade teacher.  I have taught at Tallassee Elementary School in Tallassee, AL for 21 years.  I am excited about beginning my 5th year at Tuskegee Public School as primarily a passionate math teacher.  I really love teaching math and it is exciting to see when a student's confidence grows and no longer sees math as a challenge but as a subject that he/she has also grown to enjoy.

I am married (33 years to the same wonderful man) and a proud mother of 4 children two of which are in high school at BTW.  In my spare time I enjoy taking pictures, making digital photo albums, reading great books, taking long naps, and surrounding myself with word that encourage, motivate and cause me to think deeply.  A few of my favorite things are:  (food) Chinese/seafood, Reese's cups/Hershey w/ almonds, plain potato chips, sprite; (movie) suspense; (cartoon) Backyardigans; (music) contemporary gospel/jazz; and (season) spring/autumn.
